Flanged Seat Area
A Flanged seat Area is due to incorrect insertation of the valve seats.
If the Heat/Freeze treatments are not carried out on the cylinder head and valve seats then the edges of the cylinder head valve seat locations can become bevelled and pushed down under the valve seat.

Cracked Cylinder Head Cast

Combustion Chamber Corrosion
Combustion Chamber Corrosion can be due water leaking into the combustion chamber through a cracked/porus combustion chamber or a faulty head gasket.
Another cause may be the inlet throat or port leaking water through the intake.

Cracked Cylinder Head
A Cracked Cylinder Head around threaded holes can be due to the over tightning of the studs.
Silicone or oil trapped within the holes before inserting the studs can cause hydraulic lock pressure, thus splitting the cylinder head.

Engine Block Clogged
The incorrect prohibitors in the Anti-Freeze to stop the oxidisation of the alluminium is the main cause for this problem together with not flushing the engine through periodically.
The Sediment from old water will become dense and fall to the bottom of the waterways.Over many years, This may fill the entire block cooling section restricting the water flow to the liner area and stopping all cooling to the block and liners themselves.
